ELIGIBILITY:
The Tournament is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Mexico, and Canada, excluding Quebec, who own DOTA 2 on the Steam service as of March 19, 2015, who are at least 18 years of age at the time of registration (each an “Eligible Player”). Void where prohibited. Employees, agents, directors, officers (including members of their immediate family – i.e., spouse, mother, father, in-laws, grandmother, grandfather, brother, sister, children and grandchildren – or those living in the same household) of Red Bull North America, Inc. (“Sponsor”) and its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising agencies, public relations agencies, prize suppliers, including any vendors providing services in connection with this Tournament (collectively, the “Sponsor Affiliates”), are not eligible to participate. Tournament is subject to all applicable federal, state/provincial, and local laws.
REGISTRATION:
Registration for the Red Bull LAN San Jose 2015 (the “Tournament”) opens on March 19, 2015 at 11AM Pacific Time (“PT”) and closes either when 100 Eligible Players have successfully registered for the Competition (as defined below) or one hour before the specified start time of the event, whichever is earlier (the “Registration Period”). Each registrant will be required to pay a entry fee in order to participate. The time shall be determined by Sponsor’s timekeeping systems. Sponsor shall have the sole discretion in determining the timeliness of any action or inaction related to this Tournament. All times mentioned in these Official Rules shall be Pacific Time unless expressly noted otherwise.
Registration for the Competition will be placed in a single pool of competitors (the “Pool”) each with their own designated stations for competition. To register, go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/red-bull-lan-san-jose-tickets-16222054602 during the Registration Period and complete the online registration form. After you fully and accurately complete the registration form and Sponsor’s receives it during the Registration Period, you will be registered to compete in the competition and be a “Registered Player.” Sponsor may disqualify any Registered Player at any time if it determines, in its sole discretion, that the Registered Player is not an Eligible Player, did not fully or accurately complete his or her registration form, or for any other reason.
Sponsor will have a waitlist on-site at 163 W Santa Clara ST, San Jose, CA and will allow people to register on the waitlist on a first-come, first-served basis starting at about 10:00AM on May 9, 2015. If fewer than 100 registered players check-in at 163 W Santa Clara ST, San Jose, CA by 10:00AM on May 9, 2015, Sponsor will take people from the waitlist so to fill the remaining slots so there is a total of 100 players, or multiples of 10 for each subsequent heat of the competition. You are not eligible to sign up on the waitlist if you were not eligible to register for the competition originally.
To be eligible to win any prize in this competition you must fully comply with the Official Game Play Rules document which will be provided to you prior to the start of this tournament and which is incorporated as part of these Official Rules. Your failure to complete any step outlined in, or to follow any of, the Official Rules will result in disqualification of your attempted registration.
Limit one (1) registration per person. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected registrations or registrations not received regardless of cause. In the event of a dispute over the identity of a registrant, the identity of the entrant will be determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to require government issued photo identification in order to determine the identity of a registrant. Registrations become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned.
You warrant and represent that you will abide by all laws, regulations, ordinances, and rules, and that you will not harm, attempt to harm, or threaten to harm any person (including yourself) or property in relation to or during your participation in the Tournament.
GAME PLAY FORMAT AND WINNER SELECTION:
Sponsor will communicate each Registered Player’s station assignment to that Registered Player upon check in to the competition on event day. The competition will have spots for 100 total registered players and will take place in accordance to the schedule outlined below. Registered Players will be divided into twenty (20) teams of five (5). Competition will take place in rounds (or “Heats”) and teams will be shuffled for every Heat.
Upon check in, each Registered Player will proceed to their assigned station and be assigned four teammates and opponents through Tournament Administration. The competition will be broken into “heats” of “5-vs-5 best-of-one semi-swiss” format. Each player will be assigned, and re-assigned a team based on the previous round’s performance at Sponsor’s sole discretion.
Players on the winning team in each Heat will be awarded one (1) Game Point each. Players on the losing team will have their loss recorded.
The final player to be undefeated will be the one (1) Grand Prize winner.
Each player will receive one (1) Second Prize for each Game Point acquired during the competition.
Sponsor reserves the right to invite the (2) top performing players to participate in an additional, and separate, Celebrity Show Match to be played at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco, CA on May 10, 2015 as a part of the Red Bull Battle Grounds 2015: DotA 2 event.
All dates are subject to change. The specific time and opponent for each Registered Player’s first match will be determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion. All decisions of the Sponsor related to the competition are final and binding.
REQUIRED REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES:
You must comply with the following criteria as applicable (collectively, the “Required Representations and Warranties”):
(i) You will not engage in any unsportsmanlike conduct during the Tournament. If an administrator needs to resolve any issue relating to your conduct, then any decision made by that administrator will be final and not appealable except in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Any offensive remarks, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion, will not be tolerated and the offending player will be disqualified.
(ii) You must not violate or infringe upon the rights of any person or entity, including without limitation copyrights, trademarks or rights of privacy or publicity, and must not act in any way that, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, is defamatory, threatening, indecent, obscene or offensive, pornographic, lewd, sexually explicit, inappropriate, objectionable, unlawful, in violation of or contrary to any applicable laws or regulations. You must not disparage or cast a negative light on any person, entity, or brand, product, or service.
(iii) You may not reference any names, products or services of any company or entity or any third party trademarks, logos, trade dress or promotion of any brand, product, or service during your participation in the Tournament.
(iv) Your participation in the Tournament must comply fully with the Official Game Play Rules.
(v) Your participation in the Tournament must comply with all of Valve Software’s terms and requirements including but not limited to the end user license agreement for DOTA 2 and Steam service.
If you violate any of the Required Representations and Warranties, you may be disqualified from the Tournament at any time in Sponsor’s sole discretion. You agree to reimburse Sponsor and Sponsor Affiliates in full for any losses, damages, and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees that they may sustain from you breaching these Official Rules.
By registering, you grant to Sponsor a perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sub-licensable, freely assignable license to reproduce your registration and any images, descriptions, audio, or video of your participation in the Tournament and to otherwise use, exploit, copy, modify, adapt, edit, publish and display your registration and any images, descriptions, audio, or video of your participation in the Tournament in any form, manner, venue, media or technology now known or later developed for any and all purposes, including, without limitation, for purposes of trade, advertising, and promotion as Sponsor and its licensees or assignees determine, without further compensation, notification, or permission. Further, by registering, you hereby waive any moral rights you may have in any images, descriptions, audio, or video of your participation in the Tournament in favor of the Sponsor. At Sponsor’s request and in its sole discretion, entrants may be required to execute an assignment and release transferring all rights and ownership, if any, of their registration and any images, descriptions, audio, or video of your participation in the Tournament to Sponsor, the form of such assignment to be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.
By registering for and participating in the Tournament, you also grants to Sponsor the worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, fully sub-licensable, and freely transferable right, but not the obligation, to use any and all names, identities, titles, likenesses, distinctive appearances, physical likenesses, images, portraits, pictures, photographs (whether still or moving), screen personas, voices, vocal styles, statements, gestures, mannerisms, personalities, performance characteristics, biographical data, signatures, and any other indicia or imitations of identity or likeness listed, provided, referenced, or otherwise contained in your registration or your Tournament participation for purposes of advertising and trade, in any format, medium, or technology now known or later developed without further notice, approval, or compensation, unless prohibited by law.
Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Registered Player in its sole discretion. If any process fails to operate properly or appears to be tampered with or tainted with errors, fraud or unfair practices, Sponsor reserves the right to use another means to determine the winner(s). All registrations are subject to verification.
PRIZES: The following prizes will be awarded as indicated below:
Grand Prize: The one (1) Grand Prize winner will, upon verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, receive the following prize package:

The approximate retail value of all prizes to be awarded in this Tournament is ,500 USD. Limit one (1) Grand Prize per Registered Player.
All travel arrangements must be made through Sponsor’s agent. Any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specifically provided herein (such as security fees, gratuities, luggage fees, meals and transportation, and incidental charges) are the responsibility of the winning entrant. Ground transportation may be provided in lieu of air transportation if winning entrant resides within a 100-mile radius of destination, and no compensation or substitution will be provided for difference in value. Winning entrant must possess and show valid travel documents, prior to departure (e.g. passport (if applicable), valid driver’s license, or other acceptable government-issued identification). If the verified winner is a Mexican or Canadian resident s/he must have a valid traveling visa at the time of registration in order to claim the corresponding prize. Each Grand Prize winner, or in the event of a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian, must sign a Release of Liability/Publicity and any other documents provided to him or her prior to ticketing. Once airline tickets have been ticketed, no changes by the Grand Prize winner will be permitted. Sponsor will determine airline, airports, flight itinerary, and hotel in its sole discretion. Travel and accommodation restrictions, conditions, and limitations may apply. Sponsor will not replace any lost, mutilated, or stolen tickets or travel vouchers.
All prizes are awarded "AS IS." Neither Sponsor nor Sponsor Affiliates make or offer any warranty or guarantee, either express or implied (including, without limitation, quality, merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose) in connection with this Contest or any prize. Prize details and availability are subject to change, in which case a prize of equal value may be substituted at Sponsor's sole discretion. Prizes consist only of the items listed, are non-transferable, with no cash redemption (other than for the check prizes) or substitution except at Sponsor's sole discretion. Prizes are subject to terms, conditions, expiration dates, and restrictions imposed by the manufacturer/issuer of the prize. Federal, state, and local taxes on prizes, if any, and any other costs, fees and expenses not listed above as specifically included as part of the prize are the sole responsibility of winner.
WINNER NOTIFICATION/RELEASES:
Sponsor will notify the potential winners of each match as each match is completed and will notify the winner of the final match in each Bracket that he or she is a potential Grand Prize winner. Confirmation that a Registered Player is a potential Grand Prize winner will be sent via email on or about the next business day following the completion of that Bracket’s final match. A potential winner from Canada will be required to correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question without aid or assistance. Each potential winner (and in the event of a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) may be required, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility (or Declaration of Eligibility), a scan or photo of government-issued ID, Release of Liability and/or, if legally permissible, a Publicity Release before claiming the prize.
PUBLICITY & MARKETING:
Your participation in the Tournament constitutes permission to the Sponsor to use your name, identity, title, likeness, distinctive appearance, physical likeness, image, portrait, picture, photograph (whether still or moving), screen persona, voice, vocal style, statements, gesture, mannerism, personality, performance characteristic, biographical data, signature, and any other indicia or imitation of identity or likeness for purposes of advertising and trade, in any medium, without further notice, approval, or compensation, unless prohibited by law. Submission of contact information in connection with this Tournament (whether or not required), including, without limitation, mailing address, phone number, email address, or any other identifying information, during registration constitutes permission for Sponsor to use entrant’s personal information for purposes of administration of the Tournament. Entrants also may opt-in to be added to Sponsor’s customer database and to permit Sponsor to contact entrant in the future for promotional and other reasons. You may opt-out of receiving such communications as set forth in Sponsor’s Privacy Policy (located at www.redbullusa.com) or as provided within any such marketing materials (e.g., using the “Unsubscribe” feature provided in the footer of Sponsor’s e-mails). You understand that you are providing your information to Sponsor and not to Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. The information you provide will only be used in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Policy.
NO LIABILITY & INDEMNIFICATION:
By entering this Tournament, you agree to release, discharge and hold harmless Sponsor, Sponsor Affiliates, Valve Software, Inc. and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents and assigns (the “Released Parties”) from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of, or relating to, your participation in this Tournament or any Tournament-related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any prize awarded hereunder (including, without limitation, any misrepresentation made by the entrant in connection with the Tournament; any non-compliance by the entrant with these Official Rules; claims brought by persons or entities other than the parties to these Official Rules arising from or related to the entrant’s involvement with the Tournament; acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in any Tournament-related activity or participation in this Tournament; any malfunction, error or other problem arising in connection with the collection, processing, or retention of registration information; any software, hardware, internet connection, or Steam Service malfunction, error, or other problem affecting an entrant’s participation in the Tournament, or any typographical or other error in the printing, offering or announcement of any prize or winner). The foregoing includes, without limitation, any claim for personal injury, property loss or damage, or death arising in any way in connection with the Tournament.
OTHER TERMS:
Decisions of Sponsor on all matters related to the Tournament are final and binding. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Tournament for any reason, including but not limited to, if fraud, misconduct or technical failures destroy the integrity of the Tournament, or if a computer virus, bug, or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper administration of the Tournament as determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL & CIVIL LAWS. SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY AND/OR SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY INDIVIDUAL MAKING ANY SUCH ATTEMPTS TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY:
Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify or prohibit the participation of an individual if fraud or tampering is suspected; if the individual fails to comply with any requirement of participation or with any provision in these Official Rules; if the individual’s behavior or communication at any point is disruptive, may or does cause damage or to any person, property, or reputation of Sponsor; or is otherwise not in accordance with all applicable laws and generally accepted social practices as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion.
GOVERNING LAW/JURISDICTION:
All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules or the rights and obligations of participants or Sponsor in connection with the Tournament shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other laws, and all entrants shall be deemed to have agreed to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the California courts. Claims may not be resolved through any form of class action.
SEVERABILITY:
If any provision(s) of these Official Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect.
